Dwarf Purple Heartthrob originated in the Hearty family produced by Vince Lavalle crossing Berkeley Tie Dye Heart with Dwarf Purple Heart, with primary development work carried out by Vince, Bill Yoder and Craig LeHoullier. The variety was named by Bill and Craig. This prolific regular, rugose leaf dwarf will really stand out in your gardens. The midseason, medium to medium large strongly heart-shaped fruit are purple with nearly metallic looking green stripes. The interior is a rich burgundy crimson. Flavor is well balanced, very classically tomato-ey, and delicious.
